what do you ya'll recommend? I was thinking about three foot leader with 1/2 oz to get to the bottom but would like some advice from folks who have done it if possible. Many thanks in advance! Cheers.

the question should be what bait will you be using?

Will be looking for live bait, should have some (hopefully) around the boat docks or launch ramp.

I have been fishing Jetty park @ Port Canaveral and using mud minnows. 1oz slide weight, 20-30 lb leader about 12". Bounce weight on bottom, got to work the bottom. I have caught 15 flounder and a red drum this last week. Try this technique and you will catch. Using a long leader will result in the Mantis Shrimp pulling your bait in a hole or under rocks.

Reds and snook on pilings. Soft jigs work at these fish on in coming tides
