Note: the reasons for the minimum posts as a form of reports security. We are not a snoop and scoop forum for trolls. Those type of forums have members posting the wrong info at the wrong times and without and details of where they caught the fish or shrimp etc.

We are a Angling Club with lots of quality experienced anglers on this forum, that like to help and share their experience and expertise with other anglers. Here on our forum, ALL members have the opportunity to make friends with other anglers and share in on the adventures.

NOTE: We want our members to feel comfortable knowing that their reports will not be available for the world to see.

This is why we have so many great Anglers on our clubs forum.

We do everything we can to protect our members reports, secret spots, favored fishing holes, etc.

Who on earth would want to tell everyone about there great fishing spots!
Without this we would not have " quality reports" and just be another dead forum without any new fishing / shrimping reports coming in!

There is a reason we have the most active fishing / shrimping forum on the internet, with great members of all life styles, from charter captains, to airliner captains, from mechanics to doctors etc. We are the peoples club and forum.

Bottom line, we have security protection that protects from people just looking for reports with no intention of participating in our club members discussions etc.

I felt like that also when I first joined the forum, but found that becoming more active (even in those forums where I share little interest) has been beneficial to increasing my skills and knowledge in those areas where I DO have interest. A member I met in a shrimping forum (I had no interest in shrimping at the time) ended up showing me some great fishing spots... interaction is invaluable.

I understand your points. I am just saying that I am more active during the shrimping season. I plan on going to the RR bridge soon and will gladly share reports of my anticipated success (I wish) or probable failure LOL.

  4. The exceptional aspect of our club is that it's not just about "what you receive" or "your needs", but what your able to contribute to the other members. While it's nice to log on to find out what's running or biting, it's also important for members to share other experiences and interests (whether good or skunked, lol). The forum offers a wide menu of topics that allow us to share in areas that are just not about "hot spots". It's really a very small price to pay to be involved with the wealth of resources at just the "click of your fingers". I see by your profile photo that you also have an interest in "convict shrimp", you'll find many other here do also. Look foward to reading some of your posts in some of our other areas (music, history, bloopers, etc.). Best of luck and many full pulls your way.

This right here says it all. While I did feel the rules were somewhat restrictive when I first started "surfing" the forums, I understand them fully now. If I had been allowed to just surf and glean info and not forced to get active, I probably would have done just that. And I would have missed out on so much.

Forums/Interwebs/Social sites these days can so easily become a clique of mud-slinging, quick-to-take-and-give-offense d-bags or just plain dead and dusty. The fact that this place ain't either of those is kind of boggling to me when I look around the web.

Thank you Nautical Gator, don't know how you've done it but keep up the good work.

Heres a thought to the admin. Perhaps a certain number of meaningful post and a nominal admin fee just to prove your a regular whether you posting or not. Would grandfather you in...just a thought. That would show a commitment which is what you really want. I know of several forums that handled this way and it worked well.

To create and implement a double registration feature such as the would require many hrs of programming and cost thousand of dollars. plus it would be two confusion.

We do have an alternative Paid Membership options as well

we have posted the reasons why a minimum post system works well.

  16. The real value of this club is the sharing of techniques, seasonal fishing/shrimping patterns, and networking with other fishing/shrimping addicts!

It isn't five reports, it is five posts. Many can only get out a couple times a month and, as long as total posts is five or more you remain an active member.
