different fishing applications require different techniques of rigging.
same goes for pound text, poles and reels etc...

Agreed, but Braid lasts longer, is harder to cut off against teeth and rocks etc. I understand switching lures and such. Yes I understand different techniques of rigging. Most of my spinning gear has 30 pound braid, some of the larger with 50 pound. My jigging rods all have 80 pound with a couple hundred yards of mono backing as most of that line will never touch water.
I find the hook set, feeling the bite, and the no memory to be a huge game changer never mind the castability and the line thickness compared to mono to be the key factors on why I choose braid over mono. I cant think of a time I lost a fish due to the line breaking I cant say the same for mono.
But it is a matter of what the fisherman is comfortable with, some like it and some don't.

    that depends?
are you talking inshore, offshore or both?

the braid should never see teeth, because you should be using a leader.
Rocks to not cut, barnacle do.

mono in invisible and catches more fish, and it is recommended to use a long mono leader if using braid.

I never had mono break offshore. But had braid break when I was offshore with Alan and Chris.
not talking about leader line which can get bit or chafed.

the only braid I use offshore is on my Kristal electric reels, deep dropping.

    Yup :)

Never used a leader before, again each persons choice. I never noticed a difference fishing right next to people I was fishing with using the same stuff. Again this is each persons personal choice.

Inshore only off shore stuff I have done is cod, Sharks using wire and Trolling for tuna but used rigs with Floura leaders for the rigs but with braid main line. all that was up north not down here in Florida have not been offshore yet here.

Again all my statements are based on my fishing up north only been out 3 times down here. hope to get out more once I get all settled in.

    .
I prefer braided, changed about 8 years ago. Use a Palomar knot, havent had any breakage problems with it.

don't forget to say inshore or offshore, there is a difference. Also leader or no leader?

The test of a knot is if it breaks at the knot or under a lot of pressure.
