im interested in getting a 6/0 conventional penn reel. I want to use this for shark. Mostly on the sunglow pier. ( only because I really don't know where else to go). I was advised the 6 is a nice reel and good to grow into to. Are there any specific specs I should look for in choosing my rod and reel? The photo was yesterday by another fisherman.

You're right on the money. The 6/0 Penn Senator is a good reel for shark fishing from Sunglow. Pair it with a nice sturdy rod like a Star rod, or Penn Power Stick and you'll be set.
