Just to add some technical info from up north. Spro minow jig heads and gulp swimming mullets are deadly.

These all caught on artificials in montauk ny

Thanks a lot Bob for writing all this information out and sharing your experiences. There are many of us who really appreciate the short cuts in learning different fishing techniques without the expense. The best part is using the right equipment to start catching fish. I always use the 1/4 oz chartreuse jig head and various Gulp products. Thank you and all those postings that have made my fishing experiences more productive.

Berkley Gulp Shrimp at Walmart are $4.78 per package of six. Most tackle stores get $6.49. The Berkley $15.00 rebate for four packages just ended about a week ago.

Nice article. Up north I have been using nothing but gulp for flounder for the last five years or so. A jighead like the one shown or a spro. 3 inch swimming mullet (gulp) on the jig, the a dropper loop 15 inches above that with a 6 or 7/0 bait holder hook slipped onto the dropper. Then a six inch grub (gulp) threaded onto that hook. White, chartreuse, pink shine.

Caught many a monster flounder on this set up. Can't wait to try it here.

Excellent post, Fishingfool, it confirms a few things I've always thought, but also enlightened me or outright debunked other of my notions. I realize, a LOT of patience and energy went into your empirical efforts, the summary of which you've presented here.

Thumbs-up on all that , but for also making it available to us mere mortals. LOL Seriously...'thanks'.
