Hello forum friends. I'm interested in learning how to shrimp, primarily from the bridges. Was curious when the shrimp start to run and where is a good place to start? Thanks!

The Titusville pier(Veterans Memorial bridge) is good, it requires either 110 volt waterproof lights or you can use the clamp on
work lights that Home Depot sells and a very long handled net, mine is 18 feet long Captain Ron O'Brien builds the best ones.
The pier under the South bridge in New Smyrna is good also I use my 12 volt LED greenie lights and the same long handled net,
Titusville has no tidal flow because it's so far from any inlet so it doesn't matter when you go there as long as it's not blowing 15
to 20, New Smyrna has a tidal flow and the best time to go there is on an outgoing tide preferably starting with high tide around
6:00 p.m this gives you the chance to shrimp the whole tide as low tide would be at midnight. Here's a link to the sites tide tables
http://www.shrimpnfishflorida.com/forums/forums/tide-conversion-charts.59/ that will tell you when high and low tide is for
several different locations that are all prime shrimping spots. The shrimp generally start to run good sometime in January and
continue thru sometime in April, however this year has been delayed a bit thanks to El Nino and our 80 degree temps in December.
If your near New Smyrna I'd be happy to meet you at the South bridge pier some evening(when the tide is right) I have all the
equipment necessary for 2 people to dip from the pier and I live less than 5 minutes from the South bridge

Wow...Thanks for the great info. That would be super helpful to meet you and learn the ropes. If I'm reading the charts right, it looks like the 17th would have a high tide around the time you mentioned. As we get closer to that day, lets touch base. Really appreciate the offer!

Last year the run started to be heavy around the last week in March. Before then, it was spotty.
