    between 62 and 73 degrees..

    Lane posted Shrimping Water Temperature

I think I have discovered a 'secret' about those RRB and HC shrimp and why we are not catching any. I asked Robbie to send me the dates last year that he had full pulls in both January and February. Then I went to the HC website and check marked the "Temperature" box for those dates and discovered that every date he caught a full pull, the water temps were between 62 and 73 degrees.. (all above 62 degrees). All the reports from this year from the start of shrimping season when a few people were getting full pulls and 'gallon' pulls were when the water was warmer and as it cooled to below 60 degrees, good bye shrimp!
Jim.. here is what the temps looked like when you and Sam went out...
With this data, we need to save our gas till the temps are over 60 thruout the water column.

So my 'theory' is: we all need to wait for the water temps to rise into the low 60's or higher for the shrimp to wake up and run.

It looks like it's on it's way up. Hopefully this cod front will blow through fast and we can get shrimping

Sure hope the water temps idea proves to be fruitful. I guess we'll find out in the next few days.
