    How to fish Lighted Pier
Lights were added to the Flagler Beach Pier a month or two back. They are spaced out along the length at deck level and shine down into the water. The pier is open every night until midnight and I figured the addition of lights would make for some interest night fishing. I haven’t been over yet at night to see how it’s working out for the fishermen. I thought I would post a few questions here for anyone who has experience fishing the Oceanside piers at night near the lights. I assume the lights draw in the baitfish and the baitfish bring the predators like the lights do on a lake of for Inshore locations.
What would be a good artificial lure to use? Paddletail with heavy jig head? Bucktail? Spoon? Gotcha-plug?
Is it still important to try to fish the lights over or near the troughs or will it not matter as much with the lights?
Any tips or feedback appreciated. Thanks.

I used to fish off a pier in Ft Lauderdale years ago which was lighted. The snook were always lined up just outside of the lighted area. I would catch live greenies on a Sabiki and toss them in front, behind, beside them but never caught a single one… So I guess my advise is to not listen to me. Hope someone else knows the trick.

Yeah, fishing the edge of the light and shadows is what always worked for me in freshwater or inshore. Maybe someone else will have some personal experience and lure advice. Thanks
