I'm in winter park, during the week is tough, I work in Kissimmee , don't hit Orlando till about 6:30, but heck ya, let's do this, I fully support good dive operators, but if I can dive and just share in the true costs and hit an area that doesn't get as much pressure!? Booyah! Winner winner chicken dinner!

Maybe the group could participate in one of those lion fish tournaments and represent the club?? Never hunted for them, but it looks like fun.

Yea, great post Paleoman! Does any body in the group have any experience hunting for them? I've seen plenty while diving and some in our group speared some and fed to the local shark, I've heard they taste pretty good.

All you old time scuba divers need to take a refresher or get in the pool to see if you sink or ascend! I used to sink when I was 100 lbs lighter! Now I float on the surface. LOL! I'm looking at purchasing a new BC with integrated weights. Can't keep a belt on me with out suspenders! LOL! Do they make dive suspenders? LOL. ;)

That's what I did, and I wish I didn't... I like the belt much better... easier to get the BC on and off, as well as on the boat... It is easier to hand up the belt than a weighted BC....

I bought a 130cu steel tank and it eliminates the need for weights

How do you ditch it in case of an emergency?

  17. qcguy4198

    qcguy4198 Newbie

I use a small amount of weight in the places provided for them on my BC. It's intentionally not enough to totally keep me neutral. I make up the balance with a traditional weight belt with a quick release. Ditching the belt alone provides sufficient buoyancy for a controlled emergency surface. Ditching the belt and the "pull out" pockets on the BC will certainly get me up faster, but with less control....not always a good thing.

Yes I do. I recently lost an anchor 25-35 yds directly on the tip of the north jetty at Ponce inlet and another a couple years back by the Coast Guard station.

(Over beer and food of course lol) getting this moving forward

If its during the week, I can make it on the south side of Orlando reasonably early after work. I work at Disney down in Kissiimmeee.
