Tomoka Basin 1/31/17

    Put my John boat in at tomoka state park at around 4:30pm. Made my way into the basin casting live shrimp under some docks. On the first cast my buddy hooks up on a little 15" redfish, he threw it back before I could get a picture. I moved down the shoreline a little ways and see a big fish busting on a school of mullet. I cast in there and fish on! A nice redfish starts peeling drag off my reel making me jump through hoops to land him. He wrapped around my polling platform, then my trolling motor, then swam underneath my boat going the otherway. Finally landed him and measured him out to about 23". This cold water definitely has the fish fighting harder than usual.

    Very nice job locating and catching! The key is the water temp in Tomoka is 71 degrees. Alot warmer than places other folks are fishing.
