A quick report, since it was a quick trip today. Left Swoopes around 6:30am with my wife Jackie (aka: The Captain) supposed to be dead flat, but seas were actually 2 feet and steep with about a 4 second interval out of the SE. Not at all what we had expected.
Once again, I had expected to head out to deeper water, but with the wife onboard, plans were changed. Headed nearly straight out to site 1 about 13 miles offshore.
Dropped anchor and immediately started catching fish. Pulled up one decent Triggerfish and a nice Lane Snapper, along with numerous Grunts and plenty of those pesky Remoras using live Mullet, cut bait and squid. Also lost what I'm sure was a nice Kingfish that peeled off at least 75 yds of line in about 5 seconds. After the initial run I had him heading towards the boat, but he pulled the hook just before we could catch sight of him....aarrgghh.
Unfortunately my wife started having stomach issues and we had to head in just as the bite was really getting strong....another aarrgghh.

Much easier run back in following seas. We anchored again inside the inlet close to the south jetty in an outgoing tide and attempted to get a big redfish, but all we could muster in the 30 or 40 mins we were there was a break-off by what was surely a shark. (fishing live and cut mullet)
The wife's stomach was still bothering her so we headed back to Swoopes around 10:45am. At least we had a couple of fish in the box and we both were safe and sound.
Thanks for reading and stay safe in the coming days.

Short trips still count at getting those break in hours taken care of. Thanks for the report.

Motor's running great so far cbird. I'm getting about 3.3 mpg and it's so quiet I keep looking back to see if it's still running. I just passed the 10 hr. break-in period. (nothing like the break-in on a 2 stroke, just keep her below 4000 RPM for the first 10 hrs.)
