Exactly a month since my last outing. Water has dropped ten degrees. Made it a short trip with my hand still hurting and storms rolling in by noon.
Half a dozen Trout, some close to the keeper range. If my wife had been home I would have fished for the Trout a little longer and been cleaning fish since she gets mad if I don’t keep a few when I catch them….
Had a trout on my second cast at the creek mouth next to the ICW. Caught a couple more and pushed back into the main deeper creek and then some backwater ponds. No other hits or action, although there as mullet around. Not a lot of bait.
Hit the back side of an island with a deeper channel and some docks on the way home. Picked up a few more Trout quickly moving through. Caught one tiny Snook harassing bait next to the shore grass. Were more there but too tiny to bother. Could have caught a lot more Trout had I not moved on just to scout the area I haven’t fished in a long time and to try to get a handle on the changes from the past month with the weather. No Reds hitting yet in some of my past winter spots and no interest yet with a bouncing a VuDu shrimp on the bottom. Probably still moving my lures too fast and need to slow down. Always takes me a few trips to get back in that slow cold weather mode…
High Tide: 9:45am, Low Tide: 4:15pm
    Temp: 70@8:00, 77@11:00
    Water Temp: 67
    Wind: 12-16 mph, cloudy
Barometer: hovering around 29.96 with a pending big rise beginning around noon.
