O 20170102_130242.jpg Sorry about the mishap ,still trying to figure out these computers, but anyway seeing how you had a good laugh ,now lets get down to business , we continue working our way down the shoreline keeping the boat in 9/10 ft. and casting parallel with the shore it`s not long before I hookup with another one , I yell out to Daron "got one" this one is pulling hard it must be the little guys big brother . It jumps out of the water, maybe 30ft. in front of the boat " yep this one is a little bigger",2.5-2.75 lb." 20170102_130242.jpg
After I smile for the camera into my side of the live well it goes , "OK Daron game on ,you need to get busy" I kid him. This is only the third time he`s been fishing , last year he went with me two times and caught one fish each time , and missed a couple but that was enough to get him hooked , he try's hard to apply what I tell him. As we move down the shore I point out where I caught two big ones last year, " you know it`s funny how we fisherman can remember each spot where we caught fish" ! I tell him cast your bait next to that pilling , however nobody is home today . Now we are working the Lilly pads on the outside edge I show him where to put his bait and I continue casting as I keep an eye on him . Next thing you know I think I felt a little tap on my line but the line is not moving , but when in dough set the hook [old school] sure enough he`s there , he feels heavy , it jumps I manage to button him up as I am working him along side the boat he dives under the boat, I drop down next to passenger seat trying my best to get him to the surface there he is " come on baby open your month" finally he does and in goes my thumb, into the boat he comes another 2.5-2.75lb into the live well after I let him smile for his picture. Now we are coming around to the shady side of the cove and I explain to Daron how the water temperature can affect the Bass so I don`t have high hopes for this part of the cove , just to show how unpredictable Bass can be I picked one 10 min. later.

20170102_151430.jpg OK off to the next area , this area has a combination of ell grass , Lilly pads and piers , great spot for later in the season but we`ll give it a try anyway. By now I know Daron is getting a little discouraged , I tell him hang in there and keep your bait in the water next thing I hear "oh oh" I look back and his rod is jumping and he`s sitting there frozen with his rod pointed down at the water I yell pick up your rod tip and reel , well he got half of it right he starts reeling and pulls the hook out of it`s month, we both laugh . A lesson well learned ! Now he`s energized and rearing to go . We come upon a section of the lake where the bottom is what I call SALT & PEPPER , parts of the bottom has a thick mat of grass then patches of sandy areas I bring this to Daron`s attention and tell him cast your bait just on the outside edge of the sandy area , he try's but somehow the bait falls short , I say watch this I make a cast it lands perfectly on the outer edge , he smiles . Now let the bait sink slowly then give it a twitch or two another twitch-twitch BINGO GOT ONE he can`t believe it !! ["tell you the truth neither could I ] he looks at me and shakes his head and says "amazing how do you do it !!" I kept my month shut and smiled . Well the wind is picking up sum what, the good thing is the sky boat is gone so off to the middle of the lake we go . The water is a little choppy but the trolling motor keeps us on the spot , I like this spot because it is surrounded deep water 18-20 ft. than comes up to a plateau of 9-6ft a great spot for a crankbait with my foot on trolling motor I`m just cranking away no more than 5 mins . past by I hear "I GOT ONE" sure enough Daron got his 1st fish of the day he is smiling from ear to ear he brings it along side of the and I lip it for him and hand it to him "there you go " I make him pose for a picture he`s on cloud 9.
We both get back to business , one hits my crankbait but comes undone at the boat. After a steady30 min of cranking with nothing to show for it I hear that voice again "I GOT ONE" and his rod is bent , he`s having one heck of a time he can hardly turn the handle on the reel , what's going on here then I notice the line has twisted around the tip of the rod , he manages to bring it along side and I think he wants me to lip it " no way buddy its all yours " he hands me the rod and try's to lip it but the thing won`t open its month after some tense moments and splashes he`s able to lip it, another lesson well done Well that makes two for Daron he caught them both in about an hour, I managed to pull two more out of this spot we ended the day with 11 in the boat, they ranged between 2.5-3lbs nothing real big but they were sure fun to catch, oh I can`t forget the first BASS of the season that little 12 incher that made feel so good "YES IT`S GOOD TO BE BACK IN THE SADDLE AGAIN" !!!! 20170102_151536.jpg 20170102_123925.jpg 20170102_151802.jpg
