We took my Father's boat and hit the water at 6 am. Went straight to catch bait. Mullet run is on. They were everywhere. We fished the jetty where about 20 other boats were trying to hook up the snook and the big tarpon that were hammering the bigger nullet. Threadfins were around also. A few hits but didn't land any. We did get some Mngrove Snapper. 6 keepers. 1 just over 10 and a couple in the 12-13 " range
We then headed out to the buoy line and it was game On!! Within 5 minutes my drag was screaming! It was huge red. Standing next to me was my Uncle and all of a sudden he was hooked up as well. Suddenly we noticed we were fighting the same fish! Lol. He took both our baits. I got credit for half a red. Hes the one with all the spots. We got 6 in all. Smallest Red was 31" largest was over 40" Between the reds we had some luck with the flounder 8 keepers. A few very nice ones. The largest was close to 22". It was a great day!

That's a great day of fishing for sure. Never heard of a red taking two baits especially after being hooked. (Sweet). Way to go on the flatties, I've got just one question, why does the cleaning table sign read "Please poke the eyes before disposing of carcass"? Maybe to keep them from floating???

    Great job!

Wow, what a report! Ya-hoo the mullet run is on. Did you catch all the fish on mullet? Did you try any artificals?
Sure hope the run has reached Ponce.
Great pics and fish. Thanks for sharing.

Most fish were caught on mullet. A few on Pinfish (sand perch not a true pinner) . Even 2 flounder were caught on Pinfish. We threw artificial baits at the snook early but no takers.

When you clean fish, you should always poke the eyes so they don't float and stink up the place.
Also if you fillet your catch, puncture the bladder so it doesn't float.
