I do not think a V bottom has anything to do with anything, he has a contender V bottom... But I do think a bow rail will not work with one, because it needs to lift and fold down and a railing will be in the way..

I have the I-pilot, similar features and I have to agree that it is the best option added to my boat. I use a mount that makes it removable and we set up my buddies boat with another mount. Now we get to use it on either boat. So I bring my poles and I-pilot when we use his boat. Of course mine is only 55lbs.

    Gathering info and components:
Trolling batteries will be wired w/Yandina Trollbridge 36 combiner. This allows the outboard alternators to recharge the trolling batteries.
No switches, no disconnections. All internal and will not draw power from the outboard cranking batteries.

I am going to look into this.

That will work, how long does it state that the trolling motor will thrust your size boat for in strong current?

Sam, doesn't state battery life. Just gonna have to find out
If they get low, start the outboards!
The Rhodan runs a 3 blade prop compared to Minnkota 2 blader.
With 120 lbs of thrust I am eager to see how it does in wind and chop.

I talked w/Yandina today. The hookup is pretty straight forward if you
you have a lil electrical experience. Main issue = the wires on the
trollbridge are only 2 ft long and will need to be extended. The longer
the extension the bigger the wire. 2-10 ft will require 8awg.
I'm putting this in the console and the run to the bow will be 4awg.
    That's a lot of copper!
I'll start the wiring next week and post progress. I'm sure it will be all
done and I'll be standing at the end of my driveway, waiting on UPS with
    my Rhodan....

Yup the lower the awg the better. no need to tell you about this, since you are in the business! I used 6 awg for my windless and wired all of my Marinco outlets on my offshore 10 awg - bow and stern, for my Kristal reels etc.

With the shape of your contender, it should do fine. Like i stated above, let me know if you want to test it deep dropping in deep waters, where Anchors are not an option.

Well put-more is better just because you need "x" always plan for more. I do the same for irrigation and anything else that needs flow.

One would think that many variables would give your battery life from wind, current, boat weight, wiring and battery capacity and so on....

I feel this set up is the best way to go. With off shore the kickers are on a lot. Only down side see if you are on a hot bite and your do not want to take the time to hit the key! The best thing is your plan on rigging. No switches and connections, this will pay off in the long run. We all know saltwater and electricity and not good friends.

I was going to suggest a lithium ion 36v battery, VERY pricey (B.O.A.T.) but small, light weight/long lasting package. However with the size of the Patay Wagger i do not see a down side to having 3 deep cell batteries.

Good luck with the wiring install.

as long as it lasts 1-2 hrs, the setup should do fine with a battery block, ( that's what it is made for) you could always use a generator as well. anything over a a two hr stay, I'd recommend a windless. If over fish a 1-2 stay will be more then enough fish for the days catch.

However I do see the benefit of using this in deep drop territory fishing. two deep for anchor rode, hard to idle over in place. lots of large fish down deep.

I hear you Sam and in touch with Rhodan and Lenny I would like to hear your thoughts on it when you get it installed

Lots of things to consider on this project. Lots of people already pulling it off!
The Contender bow rails are ideal for this set-up. Don't know if Id' be willing to cut a bow rail for a trolling motor.
I am looking at fabricating a mounting bracket. The 7ft long motor is HUGE and I want the monster to lay on the bow w/o
hanging over the side. The Contender bow is perfect for this.

Just got this from Rhodan and it seems practical

No way would I cut the bow rail on any boat!!! At least your Contender does not have a bow rail.

    Christmas is coming early.
Rhodan had a cancellation. That motor is now mine!
and shipping this week. I do not think I'll get it installed for ARS.
But it will be on the Patay Wagger very soon.

Patay Wagger, I am definitely staying tuned and cannot wait to see your install and hear how pleased you are with the performance. You clearly went all out, that 36V 84" is super awesome! Congrats.

Sam, in speaking with Rhodan the 36v TM draws 47 amps @full power.
My battery bank is 3 Deka gelled 97.6 AH batteries. They are monsters!
    Install coming soon

I asked my engineer how long will your batterys last and he stated:

    97.6 x 3 = 292.8 / 47=6.229787234042 hours
    Between 6 and 6 1/2 hours.
You are pushing the capabilities of the batteries to go 6 1/2 hours.
    Batteries deteriorate as they age.

So the question is, at what rate will your motors charge them?
