I just pulled the trigger on what I hope will be a major advancement in targeting bottom spots!
Rhodan Marine 36volt, 120lb thrust, 84" MONSTER trolling motor.
It has a HD GPS anchor lock program. That is accurate to less than 1 meter!
Just pull up and put your boat in park, ANYWHERE!
Bad news 6-8 week delivery for the 84" shaft. But it will be worth the wait.
I've seen video of this thing pushing a 37 Freeman, very impressive.
Hopefully it will be in before Christmas.
I might have a few anchors for sale... Stay tuned.

Sweet, better start setting up your 36 volt Battery Terminals. and keep everything separate for your motor and electronics battery's.

I'd like to see how that works out in 300 plus ft for deep dropping. Put some Marinco outlets on your boat and I'll bring my Kristal reel out.

That is a beast of a shaft on that trolling motor. Good luck on the install and shipping.

Very cool! I love my spot lock. Definitely changed the way I fish. Much more enjoyable not pulling that anchor. If you dont like the spot you are in just move.

It will take some getting use to but I am sure you will love it. I would suggest looking into the battery tender brand quick disconnect for the power feed at the motor. Very good product. I am also very happy with the RAM mount for supporting the head/shaft when running. Good luck with the install.

Very interested to here that works out. If it will work on the Patay Wagger to hold a spot my boat would not be an issue. I know Mike likes his but his boat is smaller. Not lifting that big heavy anchor you have is something no one would miss. Before I could pull the trigger on something like this I would have to be able to get offshore much more often than weather has allowed this year!

I wounder how much time it will run for at 120lb thrust under strong current load?

What a beautiful Rhodan. Please keep us informed on your experiences with it. Something identical or similar is definitely on my "wish list"....
Are you going to do the install yourself? Are you going to use the RAM mount, I also have heard that is a real benefit, holding the unit steady while running offshore in waves/chop.

How much do they run Lenny? I wonder how there dependability is compaired to the Minnkota?

    Jonathan,
Yes I will be doing the install my self. With a RAM mount or something similer.
Gonna stow the batteries in the console and run cable under the gunnel to the bow.
Looking into inverters to keep batteries charged from the outboards while running. I'm lucky to be in the wire business.
So the wire run to the bow won't cost as much as the trolling motor.
    Nocatfish,
The Rhodan has great reviews and warranty. It better for $3K!

    I'll keep you posted

Nice purchase! My ipilot is much smaller, but I can tell you that the similar features are amazing! It does take some getting used to. I suggest you get comfortable with the operation in a wide open place. I leave my big motor idling until I am confident I am staying were intended. When you spot lock mine has a tendency to back up and swing around from where I activate the lock. Once it settles in it is easy to fine adjust exactly where you want to be. You will love it

Nat5561, I cannot speak from personal experience as I do not have one, however, regarding: ..."wonder if it will work on a cat as well as a v bottom" I can say with certainty that a large number of catamarans being built by Calcutta are now being equipped with the Rhodans and I have spoken to several catamaran owners who absolutely love them, and many say it is the single best option they have put on their boats.

Patay Wagger, Thank you in advance. I hope to learn a lot because I am definitely hoping to add one of these to our boat in the not-too-distant future!

Jonathan you could have said it will not work on a cat and saved me $3000 but now I’m inclined to buy one lol
