One of my buddies was over for supper last night at our place in the N Ga mountains. When he left at about 8:30 we ran in to this speed bump between my back porch and his truck. I’m always keeping a close eye out, especially when walking the dog, but this is the first one I’ve run in to right behind the cabin since I built it. Will definitely add to the anxiety level with those night dog walks the next couple weeks before we head back to FL... After last week’s momma bear, followed by a coyote pacing back and forth watching us one night, my wife’s not going to want come back:rolleyes: D4E6561F-20B1-473C-BB10-F0965838E8DD.jpeg

I can't say that I've ever came across one of those in the woods. (Not that I ever want to!)

Almost stepped on a timber rattler several years back on a backpacking trip up this way.
Copperheads seem to be the most common up here in the mountains. Unfortunately most of them seem to also be found near the house as opposed to running in to them in the woods. Get under anything laying around on the ground. Probably more around homesites due to the toads and stuff after the bugs that are attracted to the lights at night. I need a house mongoose

Oh yeah. I guess you can’t see in that pic but it’s missing the front few inches... I don’t like to kill one for no reason but can’t have poisonous ones hanging around the house.

Wow, this beast would scare the hell out of our Chihuahuas! I'm glad that no doggie or you got hurt.

  9. Nice pic of a "Copperhead-less". lol

Now a timber rattler on the other hand a few years back I did step on literally. I was in Georgia hunting and went to check a trail camera and as I was walking away I step right on him. Thank the good lord that he didn't bite me. (My bite was a little harder)

:eek:Holy crap! Sounds like you really got lucky (if you can call stepping on a timber rattler lucky). Glad he didn’t tag you. Hope you had a roll of TP with ya...

I've only seen a live copperhead once - very pretty snake.

I wouldn't want to meet him in the woods.

Yeah, I don’t care to see them anywhere but would rather it be in the woods than right next to the house.
