I launched at dunlawton around 11am with Scott. We had planned on fishing the inlet but when we arrived there it looked doable to run close offshore. The wind was strong and the seas were pretty angry but we felt safe making the slow run out.

We brought a bag of frozen sardines just in case. We had a livewell full of mullet as well. We were able to run 10-12mph on the way out as not to beat us or the boat up. Got there to find only a single boat at site 5. I was expecting more. They were trying for about 30 mins to free their stuck anchor. Glad I dont have to deal with that. The minn kota worked flawlessly in a solid 3-4' with many larger mixed in. Some much larger.

Fishing was slow. We had no action on the livies for a while. Typical grunts on the sardines. After about 30 mins I get a good bite on a sardine head about 10 feet above bottom. The first and only red snapper of the day. Heck yea! Not huge but a solid fish. 23" and 6.5#. It almost felt wrong putting him in the ice box. Lol. I am well trained in throwing those beautiful fish back time and time again.

Scott lost two good fish that were probably big red snapper. They pulled right into the structure. We had a good size storm to out northeast moving closer so we packed it in and made the wet, very wet, ride back in. Really a cool trip. Tomorrow I plan on fishing the jetty again. Really. I don't think the wife would like the run we went on today. 20171104_140029.jpg 20171104_163700.jpg

A couple of ARS fillets for Mike! I figured if there was a way you would make it out. Next w/e has gone back and forth from looking better, to worse, and back to better. Will just have to wait and see. Great post.

Very nice Mike. That little boat of yours is pretty amazing. One of the only ARS pics I have seen. Too bad Scott couldn't have pulled those two biggins out of the structure.
    This weather sucks.

Nice job on getting out and back safe. Glad you got something for your efforts. Do you still use the south dunlawton ramp that’s closed? We didn’t dare chance it the way it looked plus no good way to get people aboard.

I do when I know swoope will be full. Easier to have someone back the truck down and drive the boat off. You can dock on the big aluminum floating dock and jump down to the concrete. Kind of a pain but not too bad. The parking lot was half full today so many people still using it despite the signs.
