Ponce Inlet Jetty - 3/17 - Sheepshead

    I got to take some new guys from church out for some fishing. They are both die hard fisherman, 18 and 19 years old. We agreed to pick them up Saturday afternoon from the lighthouse boat ramp, they ended up fishing all night at the Jetty from shore and slept in their cars. They ended up catching a 17" trout, an 18" bluefish, and a 26" bluefish that must have weighed at least 12 lbs!!!! Although they had shrimp and mullet, everything was caught on artificials.

    We picked them up around 2pm and caught the last 90 minutes of the outgoing tide. We tried a random spot along the Jetty near the end of the inlet and had a large sheepshead on before the anchor had even settled. We were using fiddler crabs and sand fleas seemed to work equally well, and some were caught on shrimp too.

    TIP for the forum members:
    Almost all of the sheepshead were not along the jetty wall, but in the deeper section on the bottom near the jetty rocks.

    We tried a few docks and caught 1 more before calling it a night around 6:30pm
