    Fishing Report By

I started my day at 3:30, and headed to my place to get my rods and some other gear. My fiance and I are dog/house sitting for some friends. On the road again by 4:30, made it to NSB and hooked up the rig by 5:45, and had her launched at swoope at 6:20ish. I was met by my friends Matt and Billy. First light was the only thing guiding us besides my nav lights, making spotting swimming mullet a challenge. I decided to take us to a beach to walk the shore line. After about an hour, we finally had enough bait to start fishing at 745. There was a full moon, or close to, the night before which had the tide coming in later than expected. This set us up perfectly to have plenty of time for outgoing. Armed with live mullet, we fished the inside of the inlet off the sandbar during incoming, the slack, and the switch to outgoing. After about two hourswith nothing going on, we switched it up to another personal favorite spot of mine, and matts for that matter. We always catch fish here when Matts with me. Matt landed a decent snook right away on a swimming artificial and jig head. A little while later, Billy and I doubled up on some reds! I caught a 22in, with Billy's being bigger at 26! The bite went quiet, so we decided to give the inlet another shot and try for some donkeys! Again same story, so after another hour, back to the previous spot. We caught a small mango, 3 flounder, with 2 coming home for dinner and the other one returned to the water. Flounders were caught on a split shot rig with about 2ft of leader, with a strip of mullet fluttering behind bouncing the bottom. No pics of the flounder unfortunately. All in all a great day! It was rough outside with some good looking surf on the ponce side with head high faces! Thanks for reading, hoping to get out next weekend!

Thanks for the report! I went out Saturday evening, but the wind kept me inside the inlet, and same as you, had a tough time getting mullet, and got skunked on the reds. Went home with one gafftopsail and one mangrove, caught above the North Smyrna Bridge area.

Oh, that full moon sure lit it up at night, but had the current ripping too.
