Recovered from Sunday night's Oak Hill shrimping trip when my outboard engine quit close to the dock and was rescued by a good Samaritan who towed me to the launch ramp and refused to accept any money for his kind deeds. Discovered the problem Monday morning (water in fuel), changed filters, drained carbs and it now runs fine. Decided to surf fish Tuesday at nearby Patrick Beach. Wind was blowing strong from the NE and I wasn't sure my 4oz sinkers would hold, but they did. Interesting morning on a 3/4 outgoing tide, because good size whiting hit my sand flea baits, then a few spot hit hooks baited with fish bites. I then cut slices off a few spots and baited one of my poles with them that resulted in hooking into several different size bluefish. The flea baited rods produced one 13 inch pomp and two small 9 inch throw backs and several catfish. Nice day on the water with a lot of action.

Stacked them up once again! Very nice catch you have there. Had to make for a great outing.
Glad you were able to diagnose and get your outboard problem resolved.

I made a return trip to Patrick Beach this morning with a friend, Friday 4/5 but we left when the lightning warning sounded along with heavy rain. Landed two whiting in spite of heavy weed and SE wind early morning. A few other fishermen decided to stick it out, but we had already packed and left to get something to eat.

Yeah, I can handle rain but try to get out of there when the lightning starts. At least you didn’t have to leave empty handed.
