My buddy Scott invited me out for a night of gigging in his boat along with his nephew. We got a late start because of some storms moving through late in the day. Launched from Bings and headed south. Water was dirty making it tough. We hit the bottom of the tide. Engine trouble meant using the trolling motor all night.

We pick off a few here and there but pretty slow overall. We decided to start heading back toward the ramp and the action picked up. We ran through a stretch of about a 1\4mile that produced most of the fish for the night. Largest 2 were right at 21". The smallest was 12.5". Fun night but man I was exhausted. I didnt get home until around 5am. I prefer rod and reel but cool to do something a little different sometimes. 20190512_030548.jpg 20190512_030601.jpg

Sounds like a fun thing to try at least once.
Were you fishing the backwater areas or the shallow edges of the ICW?

We ran both the back creeks and the Icw shoreline. We got fish off of both. I have gone with him a few times in the past. This was out most productive trip I believe.

  5. We wade around down where I am at (Brevard) and do very well when the water is clear enough to find em. Lots of sheepies too!

we were not able to run as far south as we did last time to find some of the sheepshead on the rocks. We picked up one or two on a prior trip. Really cool seeing them sitting there.

How is the flounder fishing itself in that area? Is it worth jigging a mud minnow while drifting ?

By the way, Great report. Obviously the fish are there but does anyone target them with bait and jigs during the day.
    Thanks for posting

I have no idea on the fishing there. I will have to try it sometime. We did see a lot of snook and reds in the lights as well. Some were really nice.
