You can catch Blue Crabs year round here but the best time of year is April thru October.
July and August are probably the two strongest months for Crabbers.

Can you do well with traps in a canal, or will most be caught out in the main creeks and rivers?

There are crabs everywhere down here! The main river channel is good as are the bays. The creeks and canals have crabs too!
Just one word of caution is keep an eye on your gear. There are a lot of trap thieves here! Good luck!

My wife has been looking forward to being able to hang traps off the dock and catch blue crabs like she used to when younger and living in Brunswick. We’ve been wondering if there was a good crab population in the intracoastal down there and if they could be caught regularly in the canals like we will be on. She’ll be glad to hear this.
