    Keeping fiddler crabs alive

I was told that fiddler crabs only last a few days...
however I have kept these fiddler crabs alive for over a month now...

as you can see I put them in a bucket of salt water and a grate so they can climb out of the water...
I have been feeding they dry cat food and changing the water once a week
they look just like the day I got them ....
Seems like you can keep them alive for a long, long time...

They are still alive and going strong...

I am doing a test to see how many months I can keep them alive...

Seems to be working out great!

Interesting. I always freeze my leftover fiddler crabs, but they dont last long in the freezer. It looks like I can start stocking up for sheepshead season.

What are they feeding on to keep them alive?

Good deal - I knew an old guy who would keep a bunch in a cooler - he used sand and they'd make holes in it etc.

Just checking, are your crabs still alive?

Haha, this is a really good idea, I'll be making me something like this.
