    Hi All,

Thinking of putting out a rec crab trap or 2 on the river and I'm wondering if the gators have a reputation for stealing/destroying traps?

    Thanks

I’ve never had a problem with them. You’ll have a lot more problems with other people tending or taking them.

I haven't had any problems with Gators bothering them in The New Smyrna area but I have had problems with Porpoise trying to get the bait and bending up the traps or moving them around! People will give you a problem no matter where you put them.

Just watch where you put them. Some Crabbers are territorial. The gators seem to stay nearer to shore in the North end.

  5. not many gators in the salt they don`t mind brackish, they don`t mess with traps much
