Watched a program the other night on processing farm raised Thai shrimp. The ladies were using a small stainless, pointed tube over their finger to de-head and de-vein the shrimp. They were de-heading 800 shrimp per hour! I imagine one could re-created this tool very easy! I'm thinking a piece of conduit?

Because I'm bored, I'll look around online for this tool.

Excellent tutorial, Sam. I have never gone shrimping, but I would like to start this year. Unfortunately due to some physical limitations, using traps may be my only option.

I love this trick with the cap. I never had to clean several gallons of shrimp at one time by myself until I started shrimping last winter (2015).
It is a long boring part of the harvest process but must be done. 2016/2017 winter shrimping is here and I hope fellow shrimpers find this post helpful. My fingers sure have.

Nice video cool trick with the cap. I wonder do you guys freeze your shrimp in water?

I don't. Reason being the large ones don't stay in the freezer too long. And the small ones I use for bait and I'm not concerned with freezer burn. Now Nautical Gator stores lot's of shrimp so he would be the one to ask.

de-head and leave the shell on and you will not get any freezer burn

I always freeze them in water. I try to store enough shrimp to last all year until the next years run starts again. I still have one or two packs from last winter I am trying to save a little longer until I they start to run again. They do stay fresh when in water for a long time.

yes some of mine end up in the freezer for a year...........I don't know how they last that long really. But they seem to do ok in water and double bagged.
