How to Clean Shrimp the Easy Way

This is how you Clean your Shrimp Using a Cap off of a spray can and a deveining tool.

Learn how to behead, Peel and Devein Shrimp the easy way.
First take the Cap and press down just behind the head and the head will come right off.

Now learn how to use this easy seafood tool to peel and devein shrimp in seconds is easy.

Using a deveaining tool (as shown in photos) insert into the shrimp where you just removed the head, and run it into the shrimp till the shell simply is removed. It's that simple.

The Shrimp deveiner available at Walmart and Winn Dixie, Publix, etc

This is what the process looks like.

This is how I pack my Shrimp

    After I do the above;

This is How I clean and Pack my Shrimp...

I use a Paint Can Top to chop off the heads, this makes it go much faster then by hand, and gives a clean cut...

Then I pack them in sandwich Baggies for the short term freezer stay... and Vacuum seal them for longer freezer stays...

When ready to eat I use the red deveiner tool it deveines and removes the shell in one fast step...

Hope this helps you Shrimpers out...
Give it a try and like if you like it...

    Thanks

That's a lot of shrimp! Thanks for the cleaning tip. I picked up a shrimp deveiner at Walmart for less than $2. It really speeds up the process.

Cool, another tip is freeze your shrimp after you behead them leaving the shells on, this prevents freezer burn...

when ready to de-shell, use the deveiner tool when the shrimp is still chilled, this will make it easyer to deshell. thumbsup.gif

    When cleaning shrimp:

I place the shrimp in a food bin, I use a strainer to strain the water out.

I also use a cutting board in the middle of my sink, when I behead the shrimp, the head goes to the right and the shrimp goes to the left.
so you end up with head in a bowl and shrimp in a bowl with no mess.

Thats pretty good way to de-head. My deck hand can go through 50lbs using his thumb as fast as he can pick them. De-heads as grades all in one pass.

The question now is where are all the fiddler crabs.

Forgot to mention. I tossed the heads and shells into pot of water along with chicken parts and secret stuff. Then simmered for about four hours. Drained the liquid off. This made a stock. Then to the stock add cut up chicken, Cancun sausage, garlic, onions, celery, bell pepper, couple pounds of lump crab and some Cancun dark roux. Ended up with about 5 gal of an out of this world gumbo. Now am ready to watch the football game

Great way to use the leftover parts. Sounds like something I need to try. Thanks.
