How Big Does A Trout Have To Be To Be Gator?

    IMO - 26 inches.

    Why - That was the size where they became scarce when I started fishing the area. 24 inch trout were a daily thing, 25 inchers were common enough, 26 inches were more rare.

    What's yer opinion and why?

    Never seen one that big up here but 25-26” sounds about right for the designation. Probably find certain regions where 26” isn’t all that uncommon... maybe in those locals “Gator” is reserved for even larger ones.

    Depends upon how long after the fish was caught that you are telling the story. A few days, 26", after 2 weeks, anything over 12" if you tell the story right! hahaha
