Fl Public Land

Day 1 am - check cam that was there for 2 weeks. Deer on cam and then hogs. Hogs regularly for 4-5 days before opening day. Nothing seen am.

pm - move to a funnel 1.6 miles away as crow flies. 545 2 does 2 fawns come out 15-20 yds. Freak over my entrance trail. They went and fed by buddy about 80 yds away. Circled him.

day 2 am - in at first light to find sign and hunt new area. Tons of tracks. Found a huge rub for FL but from weeks ago and no fresh sign…. Checked a large oak grove and mostly hog sign. Checked another area and found 4 scrapes and 2 rubs but buddy didnt want to hunt there.

pm - buddy went to stand i was in day before. I wanted to be able to see more than 20-30 yards. Found an area w more than normal tracks, went in and set up on the trail paralelling edge and in/out trail. Still thick. Got up about 12 feet and took a nap in the rain , woke and went back to sleep. Woke again, bout 4. Do a scan left to right, look over rt shoulder - deer! Gift from God.

watch - see bone! Up and on him w scope trying to verify size. Thick and if he starts walking, he’s gone in 2 steps. Seen a fork and let her rip. Watched the smoke pole spit smoke (pretty neat seeing it happen in slow mo) .Had to drag it 300+ yards to road.
