I retired on 2013 and moved to Florida. I was thinking about what I would be doing this time of year in CT anf found some photos from 13 years ago! In the fall I would go out into Long Island Sound for some Porgies for smoking for all wintertime eating. So good! This time of year the big Bluefish (to 25 pounds) would be patrolling the areas looking for Bunker. These bigger Blues were very strong both in power and in flavor and most folks smoked them or used them for making fish dip. I would only keep the smaller Harbor or Taylor Blue for eating.
I was also very active collecting hard clams, soft clams and Oysters, In CT you were also allowed 10 personal use Lobster pots. These had to be tended regularly to rebait; especially when the water warmed.
I miss the shellfish and fin fish I used to catch up there!
