    That is something out of a sci-fi movie. Are they good eating or best for bait?

    You could use them for offshore fishing, but they are not plentiful to catch

    I watched a guy about a month back using chunks of mantis shrimp and he was catching big bull red fish at the New Smyrna fishing dock under SR44. I watched him hook 3 of them within an hour or so.

    Great photos Sam and I agree with you about eating them. Not so good and the tail is full of cartilage.
    Back in CT they call them Striped Bass candy!

    I caught one by fishing pole at the rail road bridge it was about 14 inches long. IMG_1228.JPG

    I dipped one the last time I went shrimping and when I went to get it out of the bucket it lunged/snapped at me and cut the end of my finger... it's almost alien like creature thing,weird?

    Discovery Channel did a program a while back on the mantis shrimp. Researchers have been studying them for many years. They put one in a jar to show how they can break the glass.
