Ahoy! New here to the Jacksonville area. Primarily fish from my inshore boat but have recently got into offshore fishing via charters or the Mayport Princess and Majesty. I grew up fishing freshwater, but it didn't take me longto learn saltwater>freshwater.
    Cheers!

Hey, welcome to the club Casey.
That’s a monster of a Red you have there! Is that a recent catch?

Hey Mak! I caught him last November, 1/4oz jig head and 3" Gulp Shrimp. it was a blast on my 7' Medium heavy spinning rod with 15lb braid and 20lb flouro leader. Definitely wasn't expecting a Bull Red to eat my little jig.

That had to be a blast on light tackle. Looks like you are having no problems adjusting to saltwater...
Lots of good info and people here. Once you get your minimum post count you can get in to the meat of the forum.

I've been doing fairly well, mostly just targeting inshore fish like the bass I used to catch up north. Only these fight way harder!

Welcome Casey! That’s a hell of a red! You picked a good area (Jax), they grow em big up there. I usually head offshore out of St. Augustine, just a little south of you. Glad you’re having some saltwater success!
