Before I put any fish in the fridge (and I soak all my fish over night in water)

I fillet them. But with Sheepshead,
I put a small amount (2 tbl spoons) of light olive oil in a large pan and get it hot. Not hot, hot, just hot.

Then I sprinkle Lawrys Season Salt on the fillets, drop them in and cover them.
There is quite a bit of water in the flesh and it helps steam cook the fish.I may do a 'cooking' video next time I cook some up.

I will need to try this kayak...

What I like to do with sheepshead is filet them and cut into chunks. Boil some water and Old Bay. Once the water is boiling, add sheepshead chunks. Cook until done, about 2 minutes. Drain water. Dip chunks into melted butter.......tastes just like lobster.....!!!! cheers.gif

As many times as I have heard you say this, I am going to have to try it. It just sounds too good not to.

The recipe sure sounds good but I don't think it would come close to this! 28926691e905b30371cc71c74a06b27eb835d4b0.JPG 7bb3604713ab0f5939f971d0c6d7cc30b38867bb.JPG df33618f10be04c932da7e25c22fc78c9167907d.JPG

Unfortunately I haven't gone Lobstering since the population plumetted after they spray for West Nile virus to kill the mosquitos and it rained which wiped out the Lobster population!
To make matters worse they then doubled the price of the permit to $124.00!
I can buy a lot of Lobster for $124.00!
My good years Lobstering averaged around 120 Lobster a year.
My last year was 13 Lobster a year!I miss it a lot though! Setting the pots out.

Ok, so I caught a Sheep head and wanted to try your recipe... So I cooks some up...

I have to admit, after NotoriousToo's comments about eating Shrimp heads, I was skeptical...

    that being said,

I Boiled some Sheep Head in Old Bay, 2 minutes...
Melted some butter and gave it a try...

I have to say it was yummy, and he is right, taste just like Lobster... if not better... no fish taste at all....

I will be eating my sheep head this way from now on...

    Thanks for the recipe Bruce...

Oh, I fried some up as backup, but the boiled was better, a lot better...
